Pottery artist Ayumi was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. Inspired by her mother, whose work took her around the world, Ayumi moved to New York at 24 to experience the places her mother had seen. She started making ceramics out of necessity—she needed plates and cups for her new home. Searching around New York, she couldn’t find anything that matched her style. Then she thought, “let’s make it”. Now, she has plenty of cups and plates at home.
